Spacetime Blues
Hans von Schwartz was a German rocket engineer during World War 2. His dream was to fly to the Moon and Mars. However, after a visit to Berlin, the military ordered him back to work on their latest project: A flying saucer-shaped space & time machine! One night, he asked his daughter Lili to steal a piece of its secret fuel, Red Mercury. She barely managed to flee into the woods, never to come back.
After a dreamlike sequence, the movie shifts to the 1960's America. A little boy, Mikey, were watching the first Moon rocket fly. His father had helped building the rocket. But the boy's mom soon moved to Europe. Here, they had trains instead of rockets! Mikey spent his early years in a north European city, growing up into a young 1070's man looking for fun, girls and careers.
It all ended when he suddenly encountered an angry mob. They chased him, but he managed to escape into the woods - the same woods Lili had fled into decades earlier. Mikey slipped and fell down - just next to Lili. The Red Mercury in her hands had stopped the flow of time. And with Mikey's help, she came alive again.
Both being rather "lost" in this world, they soon become friends. Finally, he had found a girl who needed him! Once, when Mikey helped Lili climb one of his favorite childhood locomotives, it suddenly started to drive. Initially thrilled, they soon realized they were in trouble. But at the same moment a flying saucer appeared. It was Lili's father from the 1940's, who finally had managed to locate her whereabouts.
After a daring resuce mission, they all left Earth inside the UFO, pursuing a new and better timeline. After a journey through space & time, they reached planet Mars. But it was Mars of a parallel timeline, where settlers already had begun growing crops and building cities. But the biggest surprise was yet to come: Lili's and Mikey's rocket-building fathers was the same person. They were in fact brother and sister.
Taking more than 4 years to complete, Spacetime Blues is the longest Starlife production to this date. Considering the film's time-traveling focus, the film is a fitting celebration of an era now coming to an end - the age of "handmade" moviemaking, with no AI or CGI being used.
Spacetime Blues is a film for the whole family, made by our whole family! An exciting, funny and musical adventure about what happens when destinies cross in space & time. In addition, it's honoring many film & TV productions of the past, with references to both old Elvis movies and classic Star Trek episodes - and more!
- You simply got to see for yourself!
